Seafood New Zealand has two subsidiary companies, Commercial Fisheries Services Ltd (FishServe) and Seafood Innovations Ltd (SIL).
FishServe provides administrative services to the New Zealand commercial fishing industry to support the 1996 Fisheries Act.

SIL encourages and provides funding support for innovative research and development within the seafood industry, with the aim of adding value to the sector.
In line with our business mission, assistance is aimed at:
- Increasing the value of existing harvests; or reducing harvesting and processing costs; or enhancing consumer-driven product attributes.
- Ultimately outcomes that provide the potential for a significant step forward for the industry.
